A live 3D scan of your face, made from an ordinary webcam. In your browser. Nothing leaves your device.

Why

Your face, as points of light. By @einarbirgir.

How it works

  1. 01

    Track

A face-tracking model finds 478 points on your face, in 3D, dozens of times a second.

  2. 02

    Measure

The points become a mesh, rendered by a hidden depth camera into a map of how far each part of your face is from the screen.

  3. 03

    Scan

Tens of thousands of points read that map in scanlines and lift into 3D. Brightness comes from your webcam; every effect runs on your graphics card.

Privacy

Your video never leaves your device.

  • No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no cookies.
  • Saved looks live in your browser's local storage.
  • Share links carry only settings, in the part of the URL browsers never send to a server.
  • The page only runs code from this site. The face model and its runtime come from public CDNs (Google's MediaPipe storage and jsDelivr) and are checked against a fixed fingerprint before use.

FAQ

What is a point cloud?

A shape described by thousands of dots in 3D space instead of a solid surface. It's how laser scanners and lidar see the world. MESHFACE builds one from your face, live, using your webcam.

Is my video recorded or uploaded?

No. Everything happens in this browser tab and nothing is sent anywhere. Recordings only exist when you press Record, and they're saved straight to your own downloads.

The camera won't start

Check the camera icon in the address bar and allow access. If another app (Zoom, Teams, FaceTime) is using the camera, close it first. On a Mac, also check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and make sure your browser is switched on.

It can't find my face

Light your face from the front and avoid a bright window behind you. Move a little closer and keep your whole face in view. It tracks one face at a time.

It's slow or choppy

Try a lighter look like Lidar or Pointillist, or lower Detail and Scanlines in Edit. Hiding the controls (H) also stops the live previews. Laptops run smoother plugged in.

Which browsers and devices work?

Recent Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on a laptop or desktop. Recent phones should work too, but a computer gives the smoothest result. The camera needs a secure (https) connection.

Why only my face, not my hair or body?

The tracking model maps the face, from the chin to the forehead. Hair, neck and shoulders need a different kind of model; it's on the list.

How do I save, share or record a look?

Save looks in the Yours tab; they stay in this browser. Copy share link gives a link that carries only the settings. Press Record (or R) to capture a video; press again to stop and save it.

Keyboard shortcuts?

← / → switch looks · H hides the controls · R records · M lets your microphone drive the glitch · drag to orbit, scroll to zoom, double-click to reset the view.
